Facilities Operations Service FAQs
Who do I call after regular working hours and on weekends for emergency building maintenance and/or custodial services? Call the County's central telephone operator at (213) 974-1234. Where necessary, an FOS representative will be contacted to assess your situation and determine an appropriate level of technical response.
How do I know who to call in the event of plumbing, air-conditioning, electrical, lighting and other building-related service problems? Contact your Building Proprietor for the appropriate party to call. Each County owned/operated facility will have a specific point-of-contact who is responsible for such questions. The call may be routed to a representative of the ISD/Facilities Operations Service (FOS) who will dispatch a technician within a reasonable period of time following the service call, depending upon the nature of the task(s) to be performed.

Who would I contact to help in remodeling our offices? The ISD/FOS Alterations & Improvements Division (A&I) provides remodeling/refurbishment and other such services involving enhancements to existing County facilities. These services may be provided by FOS staff or by qualified sub-contractors, whose work will be monitored by FOS staff.
How do I arrange for an estimate for remodeling work? A call to the A&I Division staff at (323) 267-3445 will put you in contact with a trained estimator who will work closely with you and your staff to develop a scope of work appropriate to suit your needs and prepare the associated cost estimate.
How long is an estimate good for? Depending upon the size and complexity of the scope of work to be performed, an estimate will be honored during the fiscal year in which it was prepared. This depends upon the availability of the FOS work force and the cost of materials involved.
How do I request additional clean-up services for my facility? Contact your Building Proprietor for the appropriate party to call. Each County owned/operated facility will have a specific point-of-contact who is responsible for such questions. The call may be routed to a representative of the ISD/Facilities Operations Service (FOS) who will dispatch a custodial crew within a reasonable period of time following the service call, depending upon the nature of the task(s) to be performed.
How do I initiate an energy savings retrofit project? Contact the Energy Management Division at (323) 881-3939, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. An experienced energy management representative will provide you with information on energy savings options appropriate for your facility.
